Meet Olivia Carter, Founder of Eatwitholivia

I’m Olivia Carter, a home cook and the creator behind Eat With Olivia. Thank you for being here! I love creating and sharing simple, comforting, from-scratch recipes that fit into everyday life. Many of my dishes are inspired by memories of cooking with my grandmother, where I first learned that food made with care brings people together. This is my warm little space on the internet where home cooking and comforting flavors meet.

Why Home Cooking?

For me, home cooking is more than preparing meals. It’s a love language. My grandmother’s kitchen wasn’t just a place to cook; it was where family gathered, stories were shared, and simple recipes turned into warm memories.

My Story:

I still remember one afternoon when my grandmother asked me to help her prepare apple cobbler for the first time. I was peeling the apples and trying to hurry so I could finish quickly. She stopped me and said, “Slow down. Food tastes better when you give it time.” I did not understand then, but when the cobbler came out of the oven and the smell filled the kitchen, I understood what she meant. That moment taught me that cooking is not only about steps, but about patience and care.

As a child, I was always excited about desserts. Apple cobbler became one of my favorites because it was warm, simple, and easy to make. I used to bring homemade treats to school and share them with my friends. They would laugh and say, “One day you will be a great cook.” At the time it felt like a joke, but I never forgot those words. Slowly, cooking became more than something I did at home. It became something that felt like part of me.

I grew up in a quiet home where cooking was part of daily life. Meals were not only for special days. We had simple breakfasts before school and dinners shared calmly at the table. The kitchen was where we talked and spent time together. That is where I learned that food brings people closer.

When I was small, I had to stand on a chair to see the counter. My grandmother would let me watch her cook and give me small tasks to help. She rarely used measuring cups. She trusted her hands and her experience. I watched how she tasted food and adjusted it little by little. Her dishes were simple, but always comforting.

One Sunday morning, she was baking fresh bread. The window was open and flour covered the counter. She gave me a piece of dough to shape. Mine looked uneven and I felt shy. I told her I was doing it wrong. She smiled and said, “Food made with care is never wrong.” We ate the bread while it was still warm. I still remember that feeling.

Years later, I made apple cobbler again to surprise her. I rushed, thinking it would still be perfect. She tasted it and said, “It is good, but you hurried.” That day I learned that good food needs time and balance.

I kept cooking and trying new recipes. Some worked and some did not, but each one helped me improve. I have now spent over 15 years cooking and learning. Those early lessons still guide me today.

That is how Eat With Olivia began. It is a place where I share simple, homemade recipes for real life. Food, for me, is about care, sharing, and making people feel comfortable at the table.
