Ingredients

12 sheets of whole-wheat lasagna
About 1 pound of lean ground beef
2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and black pepper, according to your taste
One 16-oz container of cottage cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 eggs
4 ½ cups of tomato-basil pasta sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella

Method

Preheat the oven
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) so it’s hot by the time everything is ready.
      Cook the pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop in the lasagna sheets and cook them until they’re just tender (about 10 minutes). Drain them and set aside.
          Prepare the meat mixture
In a wide skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped garlic, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir occasionally and let it cook until the meat loses its pink color and becomes nicely browned. This usually takes around 10 minutes.
              Mix the cheese filling
In a separate bowl, combine the cottage cheese with the Parmesan and crack in the two eggs. Stir until the mixture becomes smooth and well blended.
                  Assemble the layers
                    Use a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Start by laying 4 lasagna noodles at the bottom.
Spread a thin layer of the pasta sauce.
Add some of the cooked beef mixture.
Spoon over a layer of the cheese mixture.
Repeat these layers two more times.
Finish with a generous coating of sauce on top, then sprinkle the mozzarella.
Cover the dish tightly with foil.
                                    Bake
Place the dish in the oven for about 30 minutes, until the sauce is bubbly and the cheese starts melting.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to let the top turn slightly golden.
                                          Rest before slicing
Let the lasagna sit for at least 10 minutes before serving so it firms up and cuts cleanly.
